An 81-year-old cyclist was killed by a motorist in Burlington on Thursday afternoon, and the police are searching for the suspect.
According to authorities, the collision took place around 2:30 p.m.
Emergency services were called to North Shore Boulevard close to the QEW highway after multiple witnesses called cauthorities about a cyclist having been hit by a car.
Emergency crews were then called and the victim was rushed to Burlington Hospital and later died, according to authorities.
Police say following the collision, the driver continued, heading east on North Shore Boulevard.
“Preliminary investigation suggests it will be a recent model-year silver VW Jetta, or a similar 4-door vehicle. It will have damage to the front right, the hood, and windshield,” police said in a statement.
