If you’re heading out on Ontario’s roads and trails this season you’ve got a fresh list of stops to work with, as Ontario By Bike has announced its 2026 Bicycle Friendly Business Award winners.
Eighth year of awards
Now in its eighth year, the program highlights businesses that have gone beyond standard cyclist services. That includes things like secure bike parking and repair support to dedicated welcomes for riders passing through on everything from short spins to multi-day trips.
“This year we received a record number of entries, making it challenging to pick a winner for each region,” Louisa Mursell, executive director of Ontario By Bike/Transportation Options, said. “There are so many incredible businesses and wonderful stories of the extraordinary lengths all these locations go to in welcoming cyclists as their guests and making them feel like their most valued customers.”
The winners
The 21 winners come from across Ontario’s 13 tourism regions and include cafés, breweries, attractions, accommodation providers and specialist bike retailers within the Ontario By Bike Network of more than 1,700 certified locations.
Research from the organization suggests nearly half of cyclists have visited certified bike-friendly businesses in recent years, with more than half of operators reporting increased cycling-related trade.
