Montreal police track down tanker truck driver suspected of killing cyclist

On Wednesday, Montreal police announced they have successfully located the truck driver who was suspected to have been involved in a collision with a cyclist on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities confirmed the identity of the victim as a 43-year-old man. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The Montreal police have identified the driver of the truck as a 53-year-old man, who is scheduled to be interrogated by investigators. The vehicle was discovered in a location outside the Island of Montreal, as stated by Julien Levesque, a spokesperson for the police. Additional information regarding the exact whereabouts has not been disclosed at this time.

According to the police, the collision occurred at 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of de Maisonneuve Boulevard and Papineau Avenue.

Eyewitnesses report that the truck was heading north on Papineau. Following the incident, the tanker proceeded onto the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, heading towards the South Shore.

Authorities have since spoken with the driver, who appeared to be unaware of the collision. No charges have been filed at this time.
