Young rider dies after crash at Big White BC Cup downhill

On behalf of Cycling BC staff and the board of directors, we want to express our sincere condolences to the family and those affected by the tragic death of the athlete at the BC Cup Downhill Mountain Bike Race at Big White on Sunday, July 2nd. Our whole cycling community is shaken and saddened.

As the sanctioning body, Cycling BC is working in close collaboration with event organizers at Big White and the local authorities to ensure a thorough investigation of the accident.

Out of respect for the family, to honour the time and space our community needs, and to allow for the investigation to be conducted, no interviews will be offered at this point. We will share an update when and if deemed appropriate to do so.

In the meantime, we would like to share some links to services and resources for anyone that may need support during this difficult time.
