When asked at the finish of the Tour de France in Paris, Tadej Pogačar didn’t say whether or not he would be riding the 2023 world road championships in Glasgow.
After canceling some post-Tour criteriums and taking a brief break, it seems like he will be on the line for both the road race and time trial, according to Sporza. The Slovenian national coach has chosen him to be part of the team for Scotland.. The other big name Slovenian cyclists, Primoz Roglic and Matej Mohoric, will be absent from the championships, however.

Pog had a roller coaster ride in France, with some early dominant displays that led to him cracking on Stage 17, which saw his chances for the overall disappear. He did, however, take the second-last stage, the 133 km race from Belfort -> Le Markstein. The winner of the TdF, Jonas Vingegaard, has chosen not to race in Scotland. Although the Dane did an unbelievable ride in the Stage 16 TT, putting 1:38 into Pog, the Slovenian was still well over a minute quicker than Wout van Aert.
Urška Žigart had to talk Tadej Pogačar into staying in the Tour de France
Given Pog’s punchy style of racing, and his never-say-die attitude, it’s clear he will be a top contender in both the road race and time trial. He’s used to wearing white–whether it’s the Slovenian national championship jersey, or the best young rider’s top, but the rainbow would make for a great consolation prize to his 2023 season.
