It all seemed like a great idea–finish Ironman Talinn in Estonia, propose to his girlfriend. How hard could it be?
Well, while getting through the race might have been a challenge, the proposal turned out to be an even tougher ordeal for Spain’s Cristian Moriatiel–-cramps almost stopped him from his final goal. After finishing sixth in the men’s 40 to 44 age group in 9:28:26, Moriatiel got down on his knee with ring in hand, only to collapse in agony.
But, as we all know, when it comes to Ironman, “Anything is Possible.” And, no, contrary to the announcer’s words, it wasn’t, “The worst proposal ever!”
And she did say yes.
