Fem van Empel won a second consecutive title in the elite women’s race at the 2024 World Championships.
Van Empel dominated from start to the finish. She was the first to top of the steep bridge and then surged away. She extended her lead lap after lap before celebrating another impressive victory in the final metres.
Lucinda Brand was second, with Puck Pieterse third, to complete the expected all Dutch podium.
