Vuelta a España 2024 - Stage 7 preview


The Córdoba finale is something of a classic at the Vuelta, with stage 7 seemingly destined to produce a reduced bunch sprint. The opening phase of the stage from Archidona is flat and relatively straightforward, but the race takes on a different guise once it crosses the finish line in Córdoba for the first time with 40km to go.

From there, the course swings out of town and takes in the rather bluntly-named Alto del 14%. The 7km ascent averages 5.6% but it has double-digit slopes, and it should burn off many of the fast men. Magnus Cort won on the Vuelta’s last visit in 2021.
