All aboard the Tadej Pogačar train! UAE Team Emirates, the number one team in the UCI World Tour, has announced a new 6-year partnership with XRG. XRG is an international energy and chemicals investment company focused on advancing global energy systems.
In 2025, the team will be known as UAE Team Emirates XRG, with XRG taking on the role of co-title partner and official energy partner.
XRG is investing in various sectors of the energy industry to address the growing demand for more efficient, cleaner energy. This makes them a fitting partner to support UAE Team Emirates XRG’s goal of achieving Net-Zero emissions by the end of 2030. The team’s Road to Net Zero initiative will focus on optimizing travel logistics and adopting energy-efficient technologies and solutions.
Well, oil be darned
It’s a curious partnership, you might say, since the UAE is one of the top ten oil producers globally. Approximately 96 percent of the country’s estimated 100 billion barrels of proven oil reserves are located in Abu Dhabi. The UAE produces an average of 3.2 million barrels of petroleum and liquids daily. But hey, money is money, I guess.
Former pro and team boss Mauro Gianetti said, “We are proud to introduce our new identity as UAE Team Emirates XRG. This collaboration reflects our commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2030. And continuing to inspire future generations to lead healthy and active lives.”
Rebranded for 2025
The team has new kit with updated branding for 2025 season, with the new logo displayed on team jerseys and equipment.
Pogi’s team has racked up 250 international wins. That included three Tour de France titles, a Giro d’Italia victory, and of course, the road world championship. Pogačar made history in 2024 with one of the greatest seasons in cycling history, which included the Triple Crown—the Giro, Tour, and rainbow jersey. It hadn’t been done by a male rider since 1987, when Stephen Roche achieved the feat. Before that, it was way back in 1974 when the great Eddy Merckx accomplished it, capping off his season with a road worlds win in Montreal.
