The Giant Factory Off-Road Team has made a strong statement for the 2025 downhill season by signing Canadian brothers Jakob and Dane Jewett. Set to tackle the UCI world cup circuit and beyond, the duo joins a stacked roster.
A rising star and a proven champion
Jakob Jewett, 21, comes into 2025 as the reigning Canadian elite men’s national downhill champion. His standout 2024 season included a thrilling win at the Canadian Open DH at Crankworx Whistler and a second-place finish at Crankworx Rotorua. Now, he’s ready to take the next step.
“I’m super excited to be joining the Giant Factory Off-Road Team for 2025 and beyond,” Jakob said. “I’ve already had a handful of days on the Glory Advanced DH bike and it’s feeling good! I’ve set my goals high for the upcoming season and with the team’s support, I’m more motivated than ever.”

Jakob’s younger brother, Dane Jewett, 18, also had an impressive 2024, finishing fourth overall in the junior men’s world cup rankings. Dane was a consistent podium finisher last season and now makes the leap to the elite ranks, where he’ll be racing alongside his brother.
Building a downhill squad
The Jewetts join a formidable Giant downhill roster that includes French veteran Rémi Thirion and two-time Australian national champion Luke Meier-Smith. Thirion brings invaluable experience, with nine world cup podiums. Meier-Smith, 21, had a breakout season in 2024, highlighted by an 11th-place finish at the Mont-Sainte-Anne world cup.
“Adding the Jewett brothers not only strengthens our roster but also builds for the future,” said team manager Sebastian Boyington. “Their talent and energy fit perfectly with what we’re trying to achieve.”
The bike
The Jewetts will race on Giant’s flagship downhill bike, the Glory Advanced DH, a machine they’ve already been helping to fine-tune for world cup competition.
Jakob is already impressed:
“The Glory Advanced DH is an incredible bike. It feels stable on the gnarliest tracks but still agile enough to handle tight, technical sections. I can’t wait to push it to its limits this season.”
What’s Ahead
For the Jewett brothers, joining Giant is a chance to show what they’re capable of at the highest level of the sport. Jakob will aim to build on his national championship and Crankworx successes, while Dane’s focus will be on making a smooth transition into the elite category.
