In this part one, Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe pay tribute to the veteran Italian sportswriter Gianni Mura, who died last week, and talk about Milan-Sanremo.
We hear from Julian Alaphilippe’s Deceuninck-QuickStep teammates Tim Declercq and Zdenek Stybar about how the Frenchman won the race, then go back in time 38 years to 1982 and a stunning surprise victory for a much less well-known French rider.
Lionel remembers Sean Kelly’s descent of the Poggio in pursuit of Moreno Argentin in 1992 and Richard mentions the victory by Italian Maurizio Fondriest the following year.
Finally in this part, we hear from AG2R’s American rider Larry Warbasse in Lockdown Larry.
