Fox goes long with new Transfer Neo 225

Fox goes long with new Transfer Neo 225

After releasing the Transfer Neo wireless dropper post two years ago, Fox is extending the line, literally. Fox is adding a 225-mm travel Transfer Neo in all three major post diameters for mountain bikes. (30.9, 31.6 and 34.9mm diameters)

Fox Transfer Neo: From zero to … 225

Fox’s new dropper post adds an extra 25mm over the previous longest-travel Transfer Neo, which was 200mm. That extends the range of Neo travel options from 100mm (for 30.9 and 31.6 posts) to 225mm. So now you can go from zero drop to a full 225mm. And with Fox’s same lightening fast, 26 millisecond response time from lever press to post movement as other Neo posts.

Like the rest of the line, Fox’s new longest dropper uses the same remote and same Fox Bike app (to monitor service, initiate transport mode or bike park mode) as the rest of the line. And like the rest of the Transfer line, the 34.9mm option gets dedicated uppers and lowers. Not just a thicker lower with the same, narrow upper as the 30.9 and 31.6 posts.

Also like the rest of the line, the 225mm Transfer Neo uses the same clearance-maximizing battery placement at the seat post collar. Fox took some initial flack for the Neo’s looks, only for RockShox to copy that placement a year later with its new Reverb AXS. To RockShox credit, though, the new wireless Reverb comes in a 250mm travel option, for the truly lanky-legged riders out there.

Fox Transfer Neo 225 pricing

Pricing is the same as all other Transfer Neo posts. For the Factory series, that’s $1,149 in Canada (USD 859). That includes the post, lever, battery, charger and cable and clamping options for the lever. That’s a lot of cash, and a little bit more than a Reverb, but with some significant advantages in performance.

Fox’s Neo remote is slim and feels familiar, but is crazy fast

What’s the word on Neo?

While Fox was a bit later to the wireless dropper category than its main competitor, the Transfer Neo arrived as a very solid option. It feels as fast as Fox claims. With a much more normal lever, it’s also more intuitive for anyone already familiar with a dropper remote than some of the pod-shaped alternatives. The remote is also quite a bit slimmer, hugging tight to the bars, compared to the competition.

Function-wise, our 200mm Transfer Neo dropper post is still working perfectly fine. It’s still very fast to return, effortless to drop and working smoothly. The same can’t be said for some of Fox’s older generation of mechanical…
