Lenzerheide delivered two stunning elite cross country races over the weekend. High drama in the women’s race, with a three-way battle for victory between two stars and the hometown hero. In the men’s race, a slightly more controversial finish added an element of mystery that has yet to be resolved.
Of course, there’s little time to dwell on what could have been when the next World Cup is already here. Racing starts Friday in Vallnord, Andorra. Riders will be challenged by each other, with some having very specific scores to settle and records to chase, and also by altitude. The Vallnord race course starts at over 1,500 m and climbs from there, making oxygen a rare resource.

Carter Woods also had a phenomenal weekend in Lenzerheide. Vancouver Island’s rising star (or one of them) landed silver in the under-23 men’s race.
