Australian sprinter Caleb Ewan makes a late switch to Ineos Grenadiers

He returned to his old team for one season, and now Australian Caleb Ewan has packed his bags to join another one with the 2025 race calendar already under way. Ewan had a two-year contract with Jayco-AlUla but wanted out of it; when a planned transfer fizzled out, he was left hanging.

The 30 year old has linked up with Ineos Grenadiers for one season, the team announced Thursday.

Ewan had three wins for Jayco-AlUla last season, a squad he was also on from 2014 to 2018 when he took stage victories at the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana. He was in his pomp from 2019 to 2023 with ProTeam Lotto, tallying up five stages of the Tour de France and four more Giro wins. Throughout his career, Evan had racked up nine triumphs in the Santos Tour Down Under, the WorldTour race currently unspooling in South Australia.

In the team announcement, Ewan said, “In 2025, my goal is to return to winning big races. It’s been a few years since I’ve won some of those major events but I firmly believe I have it in me. I’m still only 30, and with the right guidance and the expertise that INEOS brings, I believe I can rediscover my best form here.”

Team CEO John Allert commented, “Caleb is a proven winner and one of the great sprinters of this generation. Together we want to write an exciting new chapter for Caleb as an INEOS Grenadier, and the hard work required to achieve this starts today.”
