Team Canada’s Bella Holmgren took second place for the second day in a row and also claimed the QOM jersey at the Tour de l’Avenir in France.
On Wednesday, the double junior world champion finished second in a hilly prologue. The first road stage was 72.6 km from Bessans to Les Karellis. The Canadian finished 34 seconds behind Marion Bunel of Rrance. Bunel now wears the yellow jersey, 16 seconds ahead of Holmgren. The Orillia native does now, however, lead the Queen of the Mountains competition and will wear polka dots on Friday.
Canada’s Mara Holden finished 15th, Ava Holmgren 31st, Jazmine Lavergne 34th, Laury Milette in 40th, and Kiara Lylyk in 55th.

At the men’s Tour de l’Avenir, Michael Leonard had another solid day, finishing fifth after four stages. He won the prologue and wore yellow before dropping a few places in the opening stages. However after Stage 4 he now sits fifth overall with two stages remaining.
