2024 is proving to be a big year for Gracey Hemstreet and her Norco Race Division team. She started with adding a rather well-known new teammate to the squad, then a historic achievement in becoming the first woman to complete a run on a Red Bull Hardline course.
An injury derailed her World Cup run but, after a bit of recovery, Hemstreet was back at Canadian downhill championships and back on the podium. When the Sunshine Coast racer finished second in the elite women’s championship event on Sunday, she did so aboard a very colourful Norco team-only downhill bike.
The bike is a few years in development at this point. While it’s become more refined since debuting with a men’s podium sweep at 2023 nationals, and gained bright Norco Race Division custom livery, there’s still a boatload of adjustability on this race rig. That allows the team to tune the DH bike to each World Cup track. or, in this case, the flat-out speed of Sun Peaks’ nationals course.
Before Crankworx and Sun Peaks, the Norco team spent a week in Andorra tuning the bikes for the upcomming world championships in Vallnord. After a few days to reset, the Norco squad is headed back overseas to get start getting ready. After a second place in her first race back, Hemstreet will be keen to get her international season back on track in Andorra.
