Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal) threaded the needle and won the bunch sprint on stage 1 in Meiningen at the Deutschland Tour. Jonathan Milan (Bahrain Victorious) took second place ahead of Max Kanter (Movistar).
Ewan carved his way through a mass of top sprinters to take his first win since April.
Thursday began under cloudy conditions with a threat of rain and provided the sprinters with 25 points on hand for the green jersey, but Olav Kooij (Jumbo-Visma) was out of contention altogether as he did not start stage 1.
More to come.
