Cervélo launches updated Caledonia-5: stiffer, responsive, and with in-frame storage

Cervélo launches new Caledonia-5: stiffer, responsive, and with in-frame storage

On Tuesday, Cervélo announced its latest iteration of the Caledonia-5. This all-road endurance bike is designed for those seeking a comfortable yet fast ride for adventures on two wheels. Cervélo describes the bike as perfect for “big, stupid rides” — those long, amazing days in the saddle when you and your friends head out for hours on end, or for competitive events. Launched in 2020, the Caledonia has become a popular choice for endurance events like Paris-Brest-Paris, as well as for long rides where a fast bike with geometry that ensures comfortable yet responsive handling is preferred.

In-frame storage

Building on the revisions made to the Aspero, Cervélo has some upgrades to benefit those pushing the Caledonia to its limits. This includes in-frame storage, so you don’t need to stuff your pockets with gear you (hopefully) won’t be using — there’s enough space for a small multi-tool, tube, and CO2 canister.

The seat stays are also dropped for increased comfort, and coupled with increased downtube stiffness, this enhances responsiveness whether you’re climbing or riding in the drops. Additionally, the bike accommodates 36 mm tires and features fender mounts, allowing you to tackle rougher roads, even in wet conditions.

The aero tubes and internal cable routing ensure you’ll cut through the wind on those long outings, and the bike features a tapered Caledonia-5 fork on the front end.

The Reserve wheels incorporate Turbulent Aero technology, which optimizes wheel design to reduce drag and increase aerodynamic performance by managing airflow and minimizing turbulence. Or, basically: They will feel fast. The wheels come in 42 mm depth for the front and 49 mm for the rear. The hoops have been tested at Paris-Roubaix and Giro d’Italia; they include a lifetime warranty and no-fault crash replacement.

The new Cervélo Caledonia-5 is available with Dura-Ace Di2, Red AXS, Ultegra Di2, Force AXS, Rival AXS, or as a frameset.
