Derek Gee even attacks on the rest days at the Giro d’Italia

Derek Gee on the rest day at the Giro d'Italia

Derek Gee won the rest day sprint, but unfortunately, none of those points go to the maglia ciclamino. If you’ve been on Jupiter, the Israel – Premier Tech rider has had three seconds and a fourth thus far in his first Giro d’Italia. He is currently second in the points competition with 111 points, behind Jonathan Milan of Bahrain – Victorious, who has 164. With a week left of racing, there is a possibility—although perhaps a long shot—that he could take the jersey. But no matter what happens, you know the 25-year-old will go out with a fight.

Monday was the final rest day. Most teams went out for a little spin, maybe with an opener or two. Mark Cavendish’s day off was a bit busier than other riders, as he announced he’d be retiring from the sport at the end of 2023.

5 things you need to know about Derek Gee

Back to Gee. The IPT posted a hilarious video of the lads heading out for an easy ride. Simon Clarke is seen telling the Ottawa rider that he needs to take it easy. No need for any breaks today.
