Derek Gee has had an incredible giro, with four seconds, two fourths in a Grand Tour debut that will be remembered for years. The Canadian finished second overall in the KOM, second overall in the sprints, second overall in the intermediate sprints, and 22nd overall. He was second overall in kilometers spent in breaks, but first in the cycling world’s heart.
Derek Gee showed us why the Giro and the Tour need to bring something very special back
His team, Israel – Premier Tech, most likely couldn’t be happier with his results. Whether it was on the flats, in the mountains, or on the final run into Rome, Gee was always making moves and showing guts.
On Sunday, IPT flew some special guests in. Gee’s parents and his girlfriend, and fellow cyclist, Ruby West.
