Dueling 1199 previews: Finn Iles and Rob Warner vs Rémy Métailler

Finn Iles Rob Warner 1199 course preview

Whistler has a brand new downhill race track and people are hyped. Why? Well, 1199 is named in memory of iconic Canadian downhill racer, Stevie Smith, for one. And anything involving the Chainsaw gets the Canadian downhill community stoked. It’s also an absolutely amazing track that clearly draws more inspiration from Smith than just its name. It’s steep in sections, there are huge jumps and it looks fast. All good things.

1199 will be raced for the first time on Sunday at the Canadian Open DH during Crankworx Whistler. If you can’t make it to Whistler to see the event live in person, you can watch racing on Red Bull TV with Rob Warner on the mic. Warner’s also on a bike for the 1199 course preview with Whistler-local and current #2 in the World Cup standings, Finn Iles.

With such an iconic track finally opening after years of rumours, Iles and Warner aren’t the only ones getting after it on 1199. Squamish’s Rémy Métailler makes the short trip up Highway 99 to give his own preview of Whistler’s newest track.
