After a few years in development, Fox is finally releasing a wireless version of its venerable Transfer dropper post. The new Fox Transfer Neo is based off the recently revamped 2025 Transfer post, but wireless.
The highlights include some much-needed performance improvements for the wireless dropper market, like longer-travel, 200mm posts, better clearance and lower stack height. It’s also really fast. But that it, at least in part, accomplished with a more distinctive look.
Wireless dropper posts: More options in a not so crowded market
Fox is decidedly late to the wireless dropper post game. For years, RockShox’ Reverb AXS enjoyed a nearly unchallenged run at the cable-free dropper post game. Was, or is, the Reverb AXS perfect? No, but if you wanted to cut the cables, you had few options. So, with Fox finally making a wireless version of its Transfer post, called the Transfer Neo, the focus is squarely on performance.
To elevate the Transfer Neo beyond mere challenger, Fox focuses on elevating performance. Arguably at the expense of form. But there are some interesting reasons why Fox has designed the Transfer Neo the way it has. An aside: when product dominates the market for so long, even if it’s only because it is the only option, any new rival products can end up put in the position of explaining why it is different from the original. Instead, that is, of being judged on its own merits.
Fox is well aware of the context within which it is launching the Transfer Neo, of course. Several of its performance points allude to, or directly reference the Reverb. Like dropper travel, stack height and tire clearance, which are both known issues with the AXS post (and, for what it’s worth, newer options like the KS Lev Circuit) Others are aimed at setting the Neo apart on its own terms. Like speed, lever feel and durability (especially in the 34.9mm post).
Enough general talk, let’s look at the new Neo (which means “new”) and then get into ride impressions.
Fox Transfer Neo: What is it
Transfer Neo is the new wireless dropper post from Fox. It uses a similar design as Fox’s recently revamped Transfer dropper post, but with the addition of a tirelessly operated motor mechanism to actuate the post in place of a cable. It comes in the three major post standards (30.9mm, 31.6mm, and 34.9mm).
Crucially, Transfer Neo comes in drop options up to 200mm. That last one is important as, for years now, Reverb AXS has topped out at 170mm. Fox…
