How to watch 2024 mountain bike world championships in Canada

After a long break in the race calendar, international racing comes roaring back with the 2024 UCI mountain bike world championships. This year, the rainbow jerseys will be handed out in Pal Arinsal, Andorra. High elevation and notoriously technical courses will make this as worthy a proving ground as any venue. For fans, it’s a thrilling week of racing.

Here’s the full schedule, how to watch in Canada and the live broadcast schedule for the 2024 UCI mountain bike world championships.

Ian Ackert earned a junior men’s XCO medal in 2023. He’ll race U23 this year in Andorra.

A long summer break and an opportunity for Olympic redemption

For downhill racers, it’ll be an especially abrupt return. The gravity crowd hasn’t had a World Cup since Haute-Savoie at the end of June. Who will be recovered and ready to charge? And who will come back from summer break a little rusty? Riders won’t have long to get back up to speed on the notoriously physical and demanding Vallnord track.

Cross country racers have also been off since the end of June, unless they were qualified for the Olympic Games. That makes world championships an interesting chance for redemption, both for those that missed out on the Olympic Games and, like Nino Schurter, those who didn’t have the performance they wanted in Paris. The XC crowd will, at least, have the benefit of some short track events to get the race legs back under them before XCO finals on Sunday.

A slightly longer wait for enduro

After a too-long wait, the enduro crowd finally gets their first try at world championships this year. They’ll have to wait a little longer, though. The first-ever UCI enduro (and e-enduro) world championships will take place September 14 in Val di Fassa, Trentino, Italy.
