Race preview
The herculean GC battle Tour de France between leader Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and second-placed Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) comes to a full boil on stages 16 and 17 before the sprinters have one of their final chances at glory on stage 18.
Vingegaard has but 10 seconds over his rival in the current Tour de France GC standings.
The top two among the Tour de France contenders have more than five minutes on third placed Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers) and the two horse race is hitting the final stretch.
First up is the 22.4 kilometre time trial from Passy to Combloux that includes the category 2 Côte de Domancy. It will definitely be high drama and one to watch, with the first rider off at 1:05 CEDT.
Stage 17 is another big day in the mountains with two category 1 and one smaller category 2 climb before the massive Col de la Loze (28.1km long at 6% average grade) and a quick descent into Courchevel.
