Jai Hindley only needed two words to sum up his win at Stage 6 of the Tour de France. One of them may have been a curse word, but given the way he rode, he can be forgiven for his potty mouth.
The Australian crossed the line after an incredible win that saw him also snag the yellow jersey. He’s only the 9th from his country to do so, starting with Phil Anderson back in 1980.
The Bora–Hansgrohe rider went clear from a group of seven with Austrian Felix Gall on the final climb of the day and would ultimately drop him.
Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) would attack from his group that contained none other than Tadej Pogačar and catch the remnants of the break. He then pulled that group to the finish, finishing just 47 seconds behind the Aussie. More importantly, he sent a message to the others that he is the rider to beat at the 2023 Tour de France. A crestfallen Pog said that the race was far from over, but it was certainly an incredible display of strength from the Dane.
When Hindley coasted past the line to his support staff, the emotions were clearly running high. After taking a minute to compose himself and sip some liquid, he flicked on his radio and expressed just how pleased he was. Check it out below.
