Jumbo-Visma’s bike change was the most hectic near-disaster ever

It was not an ideal day for Team Jumbo-Visma at the Tour on Wednesday and the great Dane, Jonas Vingegaard and his multiple bike changes pretty much sums it up.

During a hectic day of cobbles and crashes, many riders were needing bike changes. At one point, just when things were heating up before some cobbles, Vingegaard needed a bike. Instead of waiting at the side of the road for his team car, his teammate wisely gave him his steed to ride. Problem was, it was way too big. Vingegaard persevered, unable to sit down.

After riding the giant bike, out popped Steven Kruijswijk who gave him his bike. It still wasn’t the exact right size, but better than the first one.

Finally, the Jumbo-Visma car made it to Vingegaard and gave him the proper spare bike. But of course now Kruijswijk needs his own bike, so he sprints across the road.

What a scene. It’s like something out of Benny Hill.
