As the new year begins, many cyclists are looking for fresh ways to boost their fitness and training routines. ROUVY has teamed up with Lidl-Trek and Team Visma – Lease-a-Bike, to offer a virtual Training Camp designed to inspire riders and help them get in shape for the season ahead.
Throughout January and February, riders using the ROUVY app can choose between two different training camps. Each is tailored to one of the teams. There will be a mix of structured sessions and insights from professional cyclists. Plus, you have a chance to earn rewards, so it’s a motivating way to start the year.
Using winter to get fit for summer
“The winter months in the northern hemisphere are a vital stage of physiological planning for the professional peloton. Putting in the hard hours of training that pay off when it comes to crunch time during the race season,” Mattias Reck, a trainer for Lidl-Trek said. “The same applies to riders of all levels with aspirations of their own over the months ahead. The virtual Training Camp provides a great structure for ROUVY users to follow. And to work on key areas of their riding fitness as they put in the groundwork for the year ahead.”
Each camp includes twelve workouts—six steady and six hard. These sessions are inspired by the actual routines of professional cyclists. That includes Wout van Aert’s anaerobic training, Giulio Ciccone’s climbing workouts, Ellen van Dijk’s sweet-spot sessions, and Sepp Kuss’s VO2 Max efforts. There are also ‘lite’ versions of each workout. Those are designed for riders with lower fitness levels. Alongside climbing and VO2 Max sessions, the camps cover a variety of training areas, from endurance to strength and cadence work.
The Virtual Training Camp is available from Jan. 1 through the end of February. Those who complete all six workouts from either team’s camp receive a special jersey for their Virtual Garage as a reward.
