Maggie Coles-Lyster debuts national championship kit with new team

After a tumultuous winter and beginning of the season, Maggie Coles-Lyster found a new team with Israel Premier Tech Roland. On Wednesday, she debuted her new national championship kit with the team. Her jersey is a stylish, white top with the iconic maple leaf on the front, along with smaller flags on the sleeves. Coles-Lyster is racing at the Vuelta Ciclista Andalucia Ruta Del Sol in Spain with her team. On Wednesday, the riders raced 116.9 km from Alcalá la Real to La Zubia.

The national champion’s teammate Tamara Dronova-Balabolina took the win by one second over Linda Zanetti (UAE Development Team) and Michaela Drummond (Farto-BTC Women’s Cycling Team.)

Coles-Lyster finished safely in the main bunch in 50th. Dronova-Balabolina now leads the race with four stages to go.

The British Columbia cyclist had a tough off-season after the explosion of the French B&B Hotels team. That left dozens of riders scrambling for new team. She would ultimately sign with the ZAAF team. The Spanish squad would also prove to be stressful. Financial and logisitical problems saw many riders leave the team, including Coles-Lyster. Thankfully, she found  new team with  Israel – Premier Tech Roland.
