Amstel Gold and La Flèche Wallonne winner Marta Cavalli crashed heavily during stage 2 of the Tour de France Femmes, just as the peloton was going full gas toward the intermediate sprint at Provins. As the road narrowed, the white jersey-wearre, Maike van der Duin launched which resulted in a series of crash.
In the video below, you can see Cavalli hitting the deck, but it only gets worse a second later. Australian rider Nicole Frain seems to be going full-tilt when she collides with the riders on the asphalt, and is sent flying.
The Italian eventually got riding again, but the team thought it was better for her to stop and go to the hospital.
