Natasha Miller made history earlier this year by being part of Crankworx’ first-ever women’s slopestyle event in Cairns, Australia. The Canadian doubled down when Crankworx returned to Whistler, earning a podium finish in the first women’s Red Bull Joyride contest on Saturday.
Miller threw huge suicide no-handers to finish second on Saturday. It is an impressive result for the 17-year-old from Coquitlam, B.C., and two spots better than her finish in Cairns.
Alma Wiggberg of Sweden back-flipped her way to the first women’s Red Bull Joyride title. Shealen Reno of the U.S.A. rounds out the podium in third, just 0.6 pointe behind Miller with a score of 78.0 to the Canadian’s 78.6.
Pre-race favourite Harriet Burbidge-Smith crashed in her competition runs, finishing sixth.
