Quinton Disera and Sonya Looney triumph in 2024 Singletrack 6

After six very heated days of racing in the West Kootenays, with early starts helping to avoid overheating during a streak of well-above-average temperatures, new champions are crowned at the 2024 Singletrack 6.

New Denver and Nakusp had the honour of hosting the final two days of racing, taking riders on a race-pace tour of the best trails in the area. Long climbs, waterfront finishes in Slocan Lake and much easier flow defined the later stages of this year’s ST6. That was all hard-earned, though, after three tough opening days in Castlegar and the infamously steep Neslon trails. Here’s how the results stand in this year’s race.

Pro women

Jena Greaser landed a redemptive stage win on Stage 5 in New Denver. But no where near enough to overcome the time penalty from her mechanical woes earlier in the week.

Sonya Looney wins the final stage in Nakusp and, with that the 2024 Singletrack 6 pro women’s race. Montana’s Amber Steed and Kootenay local Lindsay Glassford round out the pro women’s podium.

Looney also wins the timed downhill race-within-the-race. Amber Steed narrowly edged out Shantel Koenig for second place in that competition.

Pro men

Quinton Disera was near-perfect all week, riding away clear to his first Singletrack 6 win. Rob Britton and Peter Disera both tried to put pressure on the younger Disera brother, to no avail. Peter Disera takes second place overall while Britton takes third on GC.

In the men’s timed descent race, New Zealand’s Jamie Bartlett used the final two stages to move back ahead of Peter Disera. Bartlett wins with Disera’s in second and third, with Peter over a minute ahead of Quinton.
