Sanne Cant is racing her final CX season this winter and so far has notched up eight top-10s in the World Cup, Superprestige and X2O Badkamers Trofee series. The Crelan-Corendon rider has owned the Belgian cyclocross champion’s jersey since 2010 but is forgoing this weekend’s nationals, giving up the distinguished tricolour kit.
After the sludgy Dendermonde round of the World Cup, Cant posted a photo of the filthy jersey hanging, with the caption “It was an honor. For the love of this jersey! 15 years”.

Cant was world ‘cross champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019; the European champion thrice; the World Cup overall winner thrice while compiling 12 victories; and the X2O Badkamers Trofee six times.
The 34-year-old has road raced for Fenix-Deceuninck over the last two seasons and placed 37th in the 2024 Giro d’Italia.
Belgians Laura Verdonschot, Marion Norbert Riberolle and Julie Brouwers are all likely contenders to assume the mantle of elite women’s national champion on Saturday. The next day in the men’s race, Belgian title holder Eli Isberbyt faces an onslaught of challengers like trade teammate Michael Vanthourenhout, Laurens Sweeck, Niels Vandeputte, Toon Aerts, Thibau Nys, Joran Wyseure and Emiel Verstrynge.
