The 31-year-old British twin is the 2018 Vuelta a España champion, and his ongoing “unfinished business” with the Giro d’Italia is legendary. On his palmares are six stages of the Giro, two each at the Tour de France and Vuelta, the 2020 Tirreno-Adriatico Neptune’s trident tile trophy, and two runner-up spots in Paris-Nice.
At the 2016 Paris-Nice, Yates came in seventh but posted a positive test for the banned substance Terbutaline during the race. His results were scrubbed and he served a four-month suspension from competition, which meant that he missed the Tour de France.
Yates will race with the Dutch Bees for two years after 11 seasons with Jayco and all its incarnations.
Visma-Lease a Bike also signed French rider Axel Zingle from Cofidis on Thursday.
