Before Tahnée Seagrave had a chance to revel in her second-place qualifying run at Fort William on Friday, her ability to race finals was already in doubt. The Canyon Cllctv racer had a wild crash as she crossed the line.
Seagrave looked to land off kilter coming off a drop in the final metres before the finish line. That caused the veteran British racer to swerve back towards the barriers as she went off the last step down towards the finish. The barriers initially kept her on the course, as they should, but they also lowered to follow the drop. That sent Seagrave halfway over the top of the barriers, with her arm nearly getting caught on the other side as she fell back down into the course.
It was a scary moment but Seagrave walked away sore but relatively uninjured compared to what could have been.
The tough Brit rallied to start finals on Saturday. She briefly held the hot seat before finishing sixth overall in the elite women’s world championships.
