Tadej Pogačar may be winning the Tour de France, sure, but on Strava? Canada’s Theo De Groote just took his crown.
Pogačar’s earned a few more crowns on his little jaunt around France, and a handful of stage wins as well. But Pitoro parte centrale? That Italian KOM is now De Groote’s.
The 20-year-old Canadian, who rides with Bridge Bike Works, averaged a whopping 613 watts for 2:01 to take the crown. His 29.3 km/h average speed on the climb took seven seconds off Pogačar’s record from back in 2021.
You can see De Groote’s full KOM hunting ride on Strava. In true Strava bragging fashion, it is just titles “Morning Ride.”
The average seven per cent grade, right around a kilometre in length, isn’t among Pogačar’s most famous segments on Strava or his longest. But still, how many people can say they took a KOM from Tadej Pogačar?
