This absolutely massive pothole is the stuff of nightmares for any cyclist

Any cyclist will tell you that potholes can be the bane of our existence. They can pop out of nowhere and be no zero fun to ride over, for your body, or your bike. It’s also an easy way to get a flat tire, too.

Malachy Quinn may have found the sort of pothole that would result in you being transported to another dimension. Quinn, who is from Coalisland in Northern Ireland, posted a photo of the hole in the road that is so big it looks like some of Hellmouth to the underworld.

The 2023 road worlds course in Glasgow is full of massive potholes and people are concerned

“There are potholes, then there are potmonsters,” he tweeted. “Department For Infrastructure need to do more than patch! What if a cyclists hits this or a motorcyclist? The danger of this is plain to see. We need a permanent solution to fixing the Ferry Road. And a note, my feet weren’t even touching the bottom!

Quinn is SDLP Mid-Ulster Councillor for Torrent, said that the giant crater is the worst he’s ever seen.

“Every couple of months, I receive complaints about potholes on the Ferry Road, but this instance takes the term pothole to an entirely new level,” he told the Irish News. “I’m up to my waist in the photo and my legs still had a bit to go before I touched the bottom.”
