Tour de France Stage 14 neutralized due to absolutely massive crash

There was some big-time carnage during Stage 14 of the Tour de France. The race had to be neutralized due to a huge crash involving over 20 riders, including British champion Fred Wright and third-placed Jai Hindley. The incident also led to the withdrawal of climber Louis Meintjes and  Antonio Pedrero from the race. It was a very dramatic scene to see, with riders strewn all over the tarmac.

Meintjes suffered a broken collarbone in the crash. EF Education-EasyPost’s Esteban Chaves also had to abandon the Tour due to his injuries. Hindley managed to get back on his bike and continue the race.

After a 30-minute pause, the race was resumed.

In addition to the initial crash involving dozens of riders, a separate accident occurred during the descent after the race continued, affecting French rider Romain Bardet and EF’s British rider James Shaw.

Shaw’s crash was particularly dramatic, flipping over the wall.
