2024 Giro d’Italia stage 5 – preview

The sprinters get a third day in a row to battle for the Giro d’Italia stage win on day five but they’ll have to work hard to control the breakaway on the run out of Genova, which will have a series of uncategorised climbs and the category 3 Passo del Bracco in the first two hours to gain time. 

In the past two sprint stages, Tadej Pogačar then Filippo Ganna tried to foil the sprinters on climbs that came close to the finish. There will be less of a chance for late breakaways on stage 5, however.
