Sure, it’s cold out. Sure, there’s a bit of snow–but there’s no reason if you’re properly dressed you can’t get out and ride. On Saturday. Cycle Toronto is inviting locals to grab your bike and in join the 2026 Coldest Day of the Year Ride on Saturday, February 28.
“Whether you’re a year-round cyclist or just winter-curious, this free community ride is open to everyone,” Cycle Toronto said in its statement.
It’s around 10 km, and the pace will be suitable for all ages. The ride is down on the waterfront and then through the Port Lands.
“Toronto is a winter city, and more residents are choosing to cycle throughout the year. Regardless of the temperature, the Coldest Day of the Year Ride is a celebration of that commitment and a reminder that safe, accessible cycling infrastructure matters in every season,” Cycle Toronto’s Michael Longfield said.
Once you’re done, you can warm up with a hot chocolate.
“From −20°C to a comparatively mild 2°C like Saturday’s forecast, the Coldest Day of the Year Ride showcases that cycling is a year-round activity in Toronto,” Longfield concludes.
Date: Saturday, Feb. 28
Time: Meet at 10:00 a.m.; ride departs at 10:30 a.m.
