Polygon rolls out new Strattos with sub-$4,000 price tag for full Ultegra Di2 build

Polygon rolls out new Strattos with sub-$4,000 price tag for full Ultegra Di2 build

Yesterday Polygon announced it is moving into Canada in a real way. Today, the brand launched a very competitively-priced Strattos road bike to cement that arrival. Prices start at $2,300 for the complete Strattos 6. The range goes all the way up to $3,999 for the Shimano Ultegra Di2-equipped Strattos 8 Di2.

Polygon Strattos: What’s new

The Strattos is a more price-conscius, endurance focused version of Polygon’s top-end Strattos C line. Polygon uses a different construction and geometry, moving to what it calls ACX construction, to improve the value of the Strattos line over its premium sibling. Geometry is adjusted for a more comfortable riding position compared to the Strattos C. With increased stack height and dropped seat stays for compliance, its being labelled an “all road” bike.

It still features a full carbon fiber frame and fork all the way down the line. There isn’t much by way of the extreme aerodynamic shaping seen on some modern bikes and there aren’t fancy carbon fiber wheels. But the Strattos does use the UDH dropout standard, to future proof the frame so it is compatible with any full-mount/direct-mount drivetrains that might be coming down the line. The frame has clearance for 34c tires, though Schwalbe One Addix TLE 700x30c tires are specced on all bikes.

There are seven sizes, from XXS to XXL, with components scaled to match. The builds feature three crank lengths (165mm cranks on sizes XXS-S, 170mm on M, L, 172.5mm on XL/XXL), three handlebar widths (from 380mm to 420mm) and stem lengths from 90mm to 120mm. That’s intended to deliver proper fit throughout the full run of sizes.

Polygon Strattos: Pricing and availability

As mentioned, Polygon starts the Strattos off at a very competitive $2,300. That’s for the 6 model with Shimano Tiagra drivetrain and brakes. The $2,600 Strattos 7 comes with a Shimano 105 mechanical drivetrain, alloy wheels and Polygon’s own cockpit, seat post and seat.

Stepping up to the Strattos 7 Di2, the price bumps up to $3,200 for a Shimano 105 Di2 build. That still uses alloy wheels and, again Polygon’s own cockpit and seat/post parts. The Strattos 8 Di2 tops out the line at $3,999, one loonie shy of $4,000. With Shimano Ultegra Di2 shifting and brakes, still alloy wheels and Polygon’s own components, it is a solid offering from the brand.
