Toronto’s Ashlin Barry came within a wheel of his first elite victory on Stage 3 of Olympia’s Tour, finishing second after a fast, fractured day shaped by crosswinds and late attacks. The Olympia’s Tour is a five-day stage race in The Netherlands contested by continental squads, the majority being feeder teams for World or ProTeams.
The 158-km stage was from Zaltbommel to Kerkdriel. On paper, it looked set for a routine sprint, but gusty conditions quickly turned it into something far less predictable.
Plus a whole whack of crashes in the race created chaos multiple times.

Things briefly settled, and the race reignited heading into the finishing circuits.
A reduced front group formed, while race leader Kristian Egholm was left chasing behind after missing a key split.
