The Tropical Mountain Bike Challenge launched into its series of races at full-tilt, opening with a day of short track racing. Canadians were ready for the pace, landing top five finishes in an international field and swarming the top 10 in men’s and women’s events.
Tropical Mountain Bike Challenge – XCC Women
On the women’s side, Ella Myers led five Canadians in the top 10. Myers finished fifth in the women’s XCC. Lily Rose Marois, Elli Clark, Marie Fay St. Onge and Lily Boucher followed in that order to place sixth to ninth.
The women’s short track was won by Brazil’s Giuliana Salvini Morgen. The U.S.A.’s Madigan Munro (Liv Factory) and Ingrid McElroy round out the podium.
Tropical Mountain Bike Challenge – XCC Men
Tyler Orschel led the Canadians in the men’s XCC. Not long after landing strong results in his first appearance with KMC Nukeproof over in Spain, Orschel was again in the mix up front in a very strong XCC field. Orschel finished fourth behind race leader, and past World Cup winner, Jose Ulloa Arevalo (Massi), the U.S.A.’s Riley Amos (Trek-Unbroken) and Brazil’s Alex Malacarne.
Zorak Paille (Pivot Cycles OTE) squeezed into the top 10 in sixth while Logan Sadesky followed in 12th.
Racing in Puerto Rico continues with an HC-ranked UCI XCO race and UCI Junior Series XCO then, on the 25th, a Continental Series XCO.
