Cycling Canada has named the riders who will represent the country on the track at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
It’s a mix of experienced medal contenders and emerging talent set to race at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome from July 23 to Aug. 2.
The squad includes three athletes returning from the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham: Maggie Coles-Lyster, Sarah Orban and Tyler Rorke.
Coles-Lyster heads to Glasgow after taking a medal in the scratch race at the previous Games and will once again be among Canada’s strongest endurance hopes. The endurance team will contest the scratch race, elimination race, points race and individual pursuit.

“I’m really excited to be coming back to compete at the Commonwealth Games again,” said Coles-Lyster. “My goals for these Games are definitely winning a (or multiple) gold medals in the bunch races.”
Although Coles-Lyster hasn’t been quite as active on the track since the Olympics, she has been tearing up the pro road scene, including a recent seventh at Stage 2 of the Giro d’Italia. So too is Alex Volstad, another rider heading to Scotland. She was in the mix in the first two stages of the Italian Grand Tour as well.
National endurance coach Laura Brown said the team will race in three of the four disciplines that make up the Olympic omnium, the scratch race, elimination race and points race, in addition to the individual pursuit.
Canada’s sprint riders will meanwhile compete in the team sprint, sprint and keirin events.
“The sprint squad will have the opportunity to showcase Team Canada in the team sprint, sprint and keirin, competing against the best teams in the Commonwealth,” national coach Franck Durivaux said.
