Derek Gee-West achieves third Grand Tour GC top-10

On Sunday, Derek Gee-West tallied his third career Grand Tour GC top-10 after the final stage of the 109th Giro d’Italia. The Canadian champion was fifth in his first Grand Tour for Lidl-Trek. By taking his first pink jersey and Trofeo Senza Fine (the trophy without an end), Jonas Vingegaard became the eighth rider to win all Grand Tours. Sprinter Jonathan Milan had been shut out until the final day when he got the victory for Lidl-Trek.

In Gee-West’s first Grand Tour in 2023, the Giro, the Israel-Premier Tech rider was stage runner-up four times, while placing second in the points and mountains classification and coming 23rd overall. The next year he was ninth in his Tour de France debut, and last season he came fourth in the Giro. Steve Bauer also bagged three Grand Tour top-10’s in his career. Ryder Hesjedal retired with four, including the 2012 pink jersey.

Vingegaard joins Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Felice Gimondi, Bernard Hinault, Alberto Contador, Vincenzo Nibali and Chris Froome in a select club who have won all the Grand Tours. The Dane won five stages in earning the 2026 pink.
