Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel is a talented bike racer, no matter what his ride. Whether it’s an MTB, ‘cross, road…or TT bike. At the Baloise Belgium Tour on Friday, MvdP rode himself into the leader’s jersey. Stage 3 was a 15.2 km test in Beveren.

Norwegian Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team) took the win, averaging a smoking 53.178 km/h. Yves Lampaert (Soudal – Quick Step) took second, and Alex Edmondson (Team DSM). The ‘cross world champ finished fourth, but it was enough to take the GC lead.

MvdP animated the earlier stages of the Belgian race with his aggressive style, in his first race back since a post-Classics break. He’s known for pushing limits on the roads, as was the case in Paris-Roubaix where his racing line meant coming within a millimetre of a barrier. And he did the same on Friday, with an incredible zig-zag that used every bit of pavement available. Check out the master of corners below.
