Favero Assioma PRO RL review: A lightweight, LOOK-compatible power pedal

Measuring power is everything to the serious cyclist, and Favero has quickly become a leader in power pedals–creating lighter, more accurate and reliable pedals.

The Italian company has quickly created a solid reputation with its product. Since entering the cycling power meter market in 2015, Favero has carved out a loyal following for one simple reason: accuracy done right, lightweight, and using quality materials. Attention to detail means multiple things–and it’s key to riders of all levels.

Favero Assioma

If you’re new to Favero, the name “Assioma” translates from Italian as “axiom” — a foundational truth. It’s a fitting label for a product built around measurement precision. With the Assioma PRO range, Favero isn’t reinventing the pedal-based power meter; it’s refining it.

And now, Favero has updated its first LOOK-compatible pedal to create an even better, lighter, and maybe faster pedal. There have been plenty of LOOK-compatible power pedals by now, but Favero is entering the market with an updated product that any cyclist thinking about performance will be down to try. It’s not the company’s first go with a LOOK-compatible pedal, but it has definitely upped its game.

What “PRO” actually means

Before we dive into Favero’s latest offering, let’s look at the company’s history at upping the game when it comes to power pedals.

The PRO designation simply means a move to a fully integrated patented spindle system. That means no external pods. No bolt-on sensor housings. Just a cleaner pedal silhouette with the electronics embedded inside. It doesn’t mean you have to be a pro, but you can definitely get some pro, and accurate, metrics.

The lineup now splits into three clear categories: There’s the Assioma PRO MX (which came out in 2024), the Assioma PRO RS (from June 2025) and now the Assioma PRO RL.

The latest pedal, the updated LOOK-compatible pedal is exciting.

One sensor, multiple pedals

The defining feature of the PRO family is the patented spindle. It’s what has made Favero quite famous in the industry.

The entire power meter system — strain gauges, electronics, rechargeable battery — lives inside a sensor spindle. That spindle can be transferred between pedal bodies.

Road in summer. MTB in winter. No need to buy a second power meter.

It’s a quietly smart move. Riders can replace worn pedal bodies over time without replacing the sensor. It lowers long-term ownership cost and adds flexibility…
