You know you’ve got fans in high places when the First Lady of The United States Jill Biden is watching. On Sunday, Biden tweeted out her support to the inaugural Tour de France Femmes.
“What an amazing Stage 1 of Tour de France Femmes, and such a great sight to see after 33 long years,” Biden tweeted. “Wishing the best of luck to Florida native, Lily Williams, and all the cyclists competing this week.”
Biden was referring to the fact that although there have been various iterations of the Tour de France Femmes, this year is the first “official” version run in tandem with the men’s race since the eighties.
On Tuesday, Stage 2, Danish champion Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig beat the yellow jersey Marianne Vos to take the victory. Vos kept the yellow jersey. Canada’s Simone Boilard was the top Canadian again, in 32nd.
The Queen of Denmark was on the edge of her seat during the TdF TT
