A good time trial on Tuesday’s second stage of the UAE Tour raised Derek Gee-West 25 places on GC to 13th. West was 14th in the chrono, while Remco Evenepoel won the day, nicking the leader’s jersey from Isaac del Toro.
Evenepoel rounded the 12.2-km course on Hudayriyat Island in 13:03, clipping Remi Cavagna’s 13:15 and finishing six second faster than Tuesday’s runner-up Joshua Tarling of Ineos Grenadiers.
Evenepoel now has seven wins since January 29. Stage 1 winner del Toro sifted down to 9th on GC after 27th on the day.

Wednesday is the first of two summit finishes in the eighth edition, Jebel Mobrah, 13.2 km of 8.1 percent.
