Head: Brutal finish set to shake up Paris–Nice Stage 4

Stage 4 of Paris–Nice 2026 looks set for fireworks as the race heads toward its first proper uphill finish in Uchon. The 195-km route from Bourges to Uchon crosses Burgundy and is a doozy. It packs a whopping 2,500 m of climbing. The worst part (or best part, if you’re a climber) is that most of the tough stuff is saved for the final stretch.

After a relatively steady opening, the race becomes, well, relentless in the last 70 km. There are multiple climbs including the Côte de la Croix des Cerisiers and the Côte de la Croix de la Libération. From there, the peloton tackles the climb to Uchon, it’s around 8 km at an average 4.5 percent.

The fun stuff begins, however, at the top. The final km ramps up dramatically. It averages around 13 percent and is the perfect launchpad for explosive climbers.

GC contenders are likely to wait for that decisive ramp. Look for guys such as Jonas Vingegaard and race leader Juan Ayuso to definitely have a battle royale.

After the Stage 3 TT, Lidl-Trek’s Ayuso currently leads, with Ineos-Grenadiers duo Kévin Vauquelin and Oscar Onley in second and third. Vingegaard is in 7th, just 17 seconds behind. With the climbs, that’s pretty much nothing for the Dane to regain.

Coverage begins on FloBikes.com at 10:10 a.m. EDT. Wednesday’s stage should be incredible to watch, so get those browsers minimized and enjoy the show at work. Canadian Cycling Magazine will have a full report after, too!
