Remember that scene in Jaws? “You’re gonna need a bigger boat”? Well, for Oro-Medonte, Ont.’s Isabella Holmgren, she’s gonna need a bigger closet. The Canadian repeated as XCO world champ just days after taking the XCC title. Another rainbow jersey to add to her collection.
After the win, she said, “I am so excited, and my sister had a good race too, and I am proud of her. I am just really happy.”
In slick, rain-soaked conditions on the technical Crans-Montana course, Holmgren dominated to take the win. After seizing the lead midway through lap two, she rode clear to win by over two minutes ahead of Vida Lopez de San Roman, with Valentina Corvi taking third.
Her sister Ava was also in the mix, finishing seventh. Ella MacPhee was 15th, Marin Lowe 19th, Ella Myers 34th, and Nicole Bradbury 41st.
